Dignity Drives

Twice a year, in March and August, we ask the public to donate period products and sanitary items to be distributed to our registered charities across Australia.

Since Share the Dignity was founded in 2015, we have been able to donate 3 million period products to women, girls and those who menstruate, through our Dignity Drives and #ItsInTheBag campaign. Your generosity has changed the lives of so many across Australia and we are so thankful. From people experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, and those living in crisis. We donate thousands of packets of unopened period products to our partner charities to help those doing it tough.

We believe everyone experiencing period poverty deserves the right to their dignity.

The August 2021 Dignity Drive saw 184,427 period products donated. In total, we have been privileged to collect over 3,300,000 sanitary and period products. Stay tuned on this page and across our social media for the August Dignity Drive totals!

Dignity Drives for 2021 are now over. Thank you so much to those who donated! If you still have products and didn't get a chance to donate, please hold on to your products until It's in the Bag in November.

Lockdowns limiting your donating?

With the lingering impacts of COVID-19, millions of Australians are in lockdowns. This doesn't mean the demand for access to period products is decreasing. Over 2,700 partner charities request 95,000+ products each year, and lockdowns mean fewer people out shopping, and our donation numbers in jeopardy of not meeting these requests.

This is why it is so important we are able to continue our work, you can help play your part in helping to give the gift of dignity that everyone deserves. Here are some other ways you can help us share the dignity during our August Dignity Drive.

Dignity Drives FAQs

When Are Your Dignity Drives?

Our Dignity Drives run every March and August.

What Period Products Can I Donate?

We accept donations of brand new sanitary and period products including pads, tampons, maternity pads, incontinence pads, reusable pads, period-proof underwear and menstrual cups.

We collect this variety of period products, so everyone in need receives their preferred period product.

All donations must be brand new, still sealed in their original packaging and must comply with Australian quality standards.

Where can I donate?

Is The Dignity Drive Still Happening If There Are Lockdowns?

Yes! Absolutely! We need your help even more as lockdowns during previous drives that have happened in COVID-19 times have seen a significant drop in donations.

If you can't get to collection points physically but would still like to support by making a donation online – you can here. Dignity Drive Emergency COVID-19 Appeal.

I have items for It's in the Bag, can I donate them too?

As Share the Dignity is a predominantly volunteer-based charity, we don't have the facilities, resources, or Shero power to organise collections of It's in the Bag donations outside of the official campaign which runs at the end of November.

We ask, wherever possible, for you to hold onto your completed It's in the Bag donations until the campaign opens. We advertise the dates and locations for donations extensively across our website, social media channels, newsletter, and through our corporate partner network.

Waiting until this campaign is running means that we have the logistics and volunteers in place to best handle the donations, and they get to the women and girls who need them most, just in time for Christmas.

If you have missed the cut-off, please mail your generous donation to us at Share the Dignity, PO Box 325, Sandgate QLD 4017.

I Would Like To Register To Become A Collection Point, How Do I Do This?

In the months before March and August, there will be an opportunity to register your business or workplace as a collection point on this page.

Once registered, one of our volunteers will be in contact with and the generous donations will be picked up by a local volunteer to be distributed to those in need.

I didn’t register to become a collection point in time for the next Dignity Drive, what should I do?

You are more than welcome to set up your own internal collection drive and ask friends/family/colleagues/your local community to donate period products.

We love seeing how the public collect donations - you can use any kind of collection container you like, and there are a range of downloadable resources available that you can print out to decorate your collection container.

Also, during the Dignity Drives, you can drop off any donated items to any of the registered collection points for the entire month. During March and August, you can find your closest registered collection point via our Dignity Drive webpage.

How can I register my charity to receive donations?

If you are part of a charity that would like to begin receiving donations from our drives, please register via the button below. If you are part of a charity that has worked with us before, your dedicated contact person will be contacted by one of our Share the Dignity volunteers, known as Sheroes, to find out what donations are required.

I’m registered as an 'internal' collection point, what do I do with my donations after the drive is over?

Hold tight on to your donations throughout August, and a Share the Dignity Shero volunteer will be in contact with you towards the end of August to organise pickup.
