FAQs

Who is Share the Dignity?

Share the Dignity is a national charity working to end period poverty in Australia. We work hard to ease the burden of period poverty to those living in period poverty because we believe access to period products is a right and not a privilege.

We ease this burden through our two Dignity Drives each year, our It's In The Bag campaign and events such as DigniTea and Move4Dignity

What is Move4Dignity?

Move4Dignity is a virtual exercise event that will be running throughout the month of October. Everyone who registers will set their own exercise goal and create a fundraising page. This page is a place where they can share their progress and collect donations for Share the Dignity.

When does Move4Dignity start?

Registrations for Move4Dignity are already open, and you can start fundraising anytime from registering up until the end of October. The virtual challenge is running throughout the entire month of October.

How do I fundraise for Move4Dignity?

Once registered, you will automatically receive an online fundraising page that you can share with your community.

Let people know you’re participating on social media or at work and tell them why you’re so passionate to help people all around Australia doing it tough. People can then donate to your cause through your fundraising page.

You can also use our Move4Dignity resources to help start the conversation.

How do I register for Move4Dignity?

Simple, choose whether you will set a goal based on hours moved or distance moved and register here.

You can also choose to register as an individual, team member, or even start your own team.

All team members who have at least 1 person join their team will receive a limited edition Move4Dignity visor. *limited to first 150

Does it cost money to get involved with Move4Dignity?

It’s $25 for an individual and $20 if you’re part of a team to register. This fee will include a participation medal at the completion of the challenge.

All profit raised from registrations and any fundraising from the campaign supports those experiencing period poverty to be afforded the dignity they deserve.

How do I access the Move4Dignity app?

Once you have registered, you will automatically be sent an email that will provide the link to download the app.

In this email, you will also be provided with a unique code to sync your app with your fundraising page.

Will I be emailed a receipt for my donation for Move4Dignity?

Yes. Share the Dignity is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission and is a tax-deductible gift recipient (DGR).

A tax receipt will be issued to you for any donations over the amount of $2. Please note that the registration fee is not a donation and is not tax-deductible.

How do I sync the app with my fitness device?

Once you've registered and connected the app to the fundraising page, follow these instructions to connect:

  • Select 'More' at the bottom right of the screen
  • Select 'Link Wearables' on the menu
  • Select the provider (Garmin, Fitbit, Polar, Apple Health) of your fitness device and you will be taken to a page to log in and connect the device.

Can I log my duration fitness in the app?

The app currently is only able to log the distance moved. You can log your steps or time spent moving via your fundraising page.

We hope to have all options available next year to be logged through the app.

When will I receive my incentives and medal?

We aim to have incentives (t-shirt, socks, visor, etc.) dispatched within one week of reaching the milestone.

As we rely heavily on volunteers to help with dispatching, please be patient as there may be delays during peak periods.

The medals will be dispatched separately in the last week of October.

What will happen to my fitness I've tracked before October?

Your fitness activity logged prior to the challenge in October will automatically be reset to zero, ready to start fresh.

Where does the money raised go?

Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. We distribute sanitary items to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When a woman is doing it tough, the last thing on her mind should be dealing with her period.

Your support through Move4Dignity will ensure that we can continue our important work, affording all women and girls in Australia are afforded the dignity that so many of us take for granted.

What are the different ways I can get involved with Move4Dignity?

Move4Dignity is all about moving in whatever way you like. Whether it's running, swimming, yoga, dancing or cycling, you set a challenge that works for you!

You can set your goal as either time-based or distance, so that no matter how you move, you're moving for dignity!
