Mockingbird Theatre

We're shaving our heads!

Two of our cast members, Anneka and Eva, will be shaving their heads in October for our upcoming show, The Wolves. To honour this freeing experience, we wanted to fundraise for a cause close to the cast's hearts - Share the Dignity.

All funds raised will help provide free and dignified access to period products for those in need. Any support you can give towards our fundraiser will go a long way, making a huge, life-changing difference to the lives of many.

About Share the Dignity

Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. They distribute period products to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. When someone is doing it tough, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.

My Updates

Tuesday 30th Sep
We’re shaving our heads not only for our character’s story, but to raise awareness and funds for Share The Dignity.
The Wolves is a play about teenage girls on a soccer team going through the ups and downs of life together, and one of the challenges of growing up for young women is navigating menstruation.
We've both been very fortunate to have grown up with a lot of support around us as women. But that doesn't mean it is easy, especially seeing friends go through hard times and suffering because of their periods. Confidence, security and safety can be gone in the blink of an eye.
So we wanted to highlight the story of many Australians who face period poverty and those who lack access to basic menstrual products and education. This isn’t just a health issue; it’s a matter of dignity, equality, and human rights. We believe no one should miss school, work, sport, art, or feel ashamed because of their period.
Share The Dignity aims to create change and empower women to participate, reduce period anxiety, and gain access to essential health and education services. Through this fundraiser, we want to provide essential supplies and break the stigma and shame around menstruation.
Share the Dignity has various platforms to address specific needs, including free period products for teens, a push for eco-friendly period products, free period pack vending machines, Indigenous Menstrual Health initiatives, and more.
It's a privilege to get to fundraise for this incredible charity - thank you to everyone who has supported the fundraiser thus far.
