and help a woman or girl in need

Every year Share the Dignity receives thousands of requests for period products from schools, hospitals and organisations that support their local community.

On average each request is for approximately 152 items. Through our two annual Dignity Drives in March and August, Share the Dignity collects donations of period products to distribute to them.

As we begin our second collection drive of 2022 and COVID-19 still continuing to impact our community it is so important that we ensure we collect enough products to fullfil our charity requests.

Imagine your daughter, mother, sister, cousin, friend, or loved one, feeling so alone while experiencing a crisis.

Imagine them missing school and work because they have no period products. Embarrassed and nowhere to turn.

When someone is in crisis, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.

Would you rather use your last bit of change to buy your kids lunch or use it to buy the tampons you need to get through the month
Text: Together, we can make a difference

There are more than 49,000 women experiencing homelessness in Australia every night, which is why we need your support to help fulfil our charities' requests.

Vikki became homeless at the age of 34, following the breakdown of her marriage. "I packed everything in the car; I didn't have much money or a job, so I had to start over."

Vikki, like many other women in Australia, left her home due to an abusive relationship (domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness among Australian women) and suddenly ended up homeless. Her income had been used to cover the mortgage, the kids' child care, and their living expenses over the years, so despite having always worked, she had no savings. And it wasn’t safe to stay home.

Vikki lived in her car for nine months, mostly "free camping" wherever she could find a spot.

During this time, Vikki sacrificed period products in order to buy food for her and her children, improvising by using cut up towels and socks to deal with her period.

We know Vikki is not alone in this, with 1 in 5 having to improvise on period products because they cannot afford them.

When someone is in crisis, the last thing on their mind should be dealing with their period.

Register for a virtual collection page and help continue to end period poverty

Due to COVID-19, we know many of our supporters cannot donate period products in the usual way, but still want to help. We have created a virtual collection campaign to allow anyone the opportunity to continue to support our annual Dignity Drive and help those living in period poverty.

It's as simple as registering, set up your online page and sharing your link with your friends, family, work colleagues, school community and people in your network.

Once registered you will also be able to download social media tools to use to help promote your collection.
