Creating Period Pride entries must fit into one of the following categories:
1. Video/short film
2. Performed song

Why is period pride important?
In 2024, our second Bloody Big Survey made history.
More than 150,000 people with a period shared their lived experiences with us. While that's only around 0.55% of Australia’s population, it is the world’s largest dataset on menstruation attitudes and experiences, and it exposed realities that demand serious attention.
- 64% have struggled to afford period products, with rates dramatically higher in some communities.
- 68% missed sport because of their period, with 76.5% attributing that to a fear of leaking or staining.
- Only 36% felt well educated about menstruation before their first period. This education gap starts at school. Some respondents reported getting their period as young as eight, yet many aren’t taught about menstruation until at least 10.
Most concerning of all, at least 22% have had to improvise period products because they couldn’t afford them. This increases shame, health risks and discomfort, and reduces opportunities.
Period poverty doesn’t have a simple fix. It requires real change in both access and attitudes. That’s why we’re committed to education, conversations and destigmatisation, and why we believe in the power of future leaders and changemakers.
The first step towards change is education
