DID YOU KNOW
ACCORDING TO OUR 2024 BLOODY BIG SURVEY, ONLY 36% OF MENSTRUATORS FELT WELL EDUCATED ABOUT MENSTRUATION BEFORE THEIR FIRST PERIOD?
This education gap starts at school. We found respondents got their periods as young as eight years old but children might not be educated about them at school until they are at least 10.
We want to give you the tools to support your students in the best way you can. Maybe that means updating your curriculum to include better period education, getting your students involved in some of our initiatives, or providing free period products in your school's bathrooms. You can make a real impact in your students lives!

Period Talk is a fully comprehensive, fun, engaging and informative menstruation specific education program aimed at boys and girls in years 5-8.
A complete stand-alone teaching package to be taught over four weeks, presented by kids for kids.

PERIODS AND EDUCATION
Our 2024 Bloody Big Survey highlighted the systemic issues which affect those who menstruate from participating in school. We found that on average students are missing 6 days of school per year due to their period - this jumps to 10 days per year for First Nations people.
We want to ensure no person misses a day of learning due to their period. Share the Dignity has successfully advocated for period products to be provided in public high schools, but this needs to include primary schools, TAFE and University.
As well as addressing access issues, we believe that education is the first step to making changes. You can make a real difference in the lives of your students by encouraging them to participate in initiatives such as the period talk education program, the creating period pride competition, and the Eco Period Club.

We are asking young Australians in schools and community groups to create ‘Period Pride Media’ to inspire, entertain and get people talking about periods!

JOIN THE MENSTRUAL MOVEMENT
At Share the Dignity, we are passionate about empowering and supporting people to live a life of dignity and safety.
The Queensland Government shares our passion to foster positive educational outcomes and alleviate emotional distress for students in need, by allowing them to focus on their education rather than on accessing supplies to manage their period. The Share the Dignity in Queensland schools initiative is proudly sponsored by the Queensland Government to help end period poverty.
Whether you want to prepare younger students for their first period, foster empathy from those who don't menstruate, or help educate the PE teacher and sport coaches - we've got the resources for you!
